SYSTEM IN DETAIL

History:
The Blueteq system evolved from a Shared Patient Care System (SPCS) developed for a Surrey Primary Care Group (PCG). It was produced to manage the "GP With Special Interests" (GPwSPIs) clinics in ENT and upper limb orthopaedics/rheumatology. This system has gone from strength to strength as GPwSPI services have grown and the Primary Care Trust (PCT) that followed, focused on cost savings by moving more clinical activity from secondary to primary care. This trend has continued into the new environment of Practice Based Commissioning and Alternative Provider Medical Services.

Features:
Blueteq is a web-enabled, secure system that allows the sharing of patient care information across multiple sites. It is built on industry standard Microsoft SQL server with excellent input and export features. Our clients' systems are either located in NHS IT departments or our own secure datacentre in Fareham, Hampshire. It is the only system that currently supports PBC and APMS. One of the key benefits is that it is tailored to suit the specific needs of the client. The three main areas are clinical, administrative and reporting.
GP systems are based on the “registered patient” and do not adapt themselves readily to accepting referrals and producing activity data based on a referral pathway. They are also not easily and cost-effectively support the notion of the patient’s record being available to a variety of users at different locations. Hospital systems (PAS) are based on episodes of care but are very costly. good4healthcare is aware that this has left a gap in the patient record and has been developing a configurable application for 7 years that is now ideally suited for these new environments.
